Cavotec Maritime Expert Speaks on AMP at Lloyd’s Green Ship Technology Conference

Cavotec Maritime Expert Speaks on AMP at Lloyd’s Green Ship Technology Conference

Engineering group Cavotec’s maritime expert, Luciano Corbetta, is to speak on Alternative Maritime Power (AMP) at the 5th Annual Green Ship Technology conference.

Organised by Lloyd’s List in Rotterdam, The Netherlands, on Tuesday the 11th and Wednesday the 12th of March, the conference bills itself as “the key industry meeting place”.

Under the rubric "current and future developments in environmentally sustainable shipping", the conference is designed to provide a stimulating forum for ship owners and operators, ship and ship yard managers, naval architects, marine engineers, classification societies, marine equipment manufacturers, environmental organisations, port and harbour authorities and maritime administrators.

"I am very much looking forward to speaking at the Green Ship conference. Reducing the environmental impact of shipping is in the interests of the industry and society at large; and is something with which Cavotec has been involved for many years," says Corbetta.

Corbetta, who joined the Cavotec Group in 1997, will be participating in a debate entitled "Cold Ironing and Alternatives: what are the costs? Is it commercially viable?"

Other conference highlights include regulatory and technical solutions for environmentally friendly shipping, proposed European Union environmental legislation, alternative fuels and the Port of Gothenburg’s experience of adopting waste management and recycling programmes.

Conference organisers are also keen to highlight Green Ship 2008’s own environmental credentials as a carbon neutral event, which will support the Bagasse Cogeneration project in India and methane capture projects in Germany.

Before joining Cavotec Corbetta was employed by an international engineering company active in the energy market. In 2005 he was appointed Marine Division Manager at Cavotec Specimas, one of Cavotec’s seven Centres of Excellence of publicly listed Cavotec MSL (NZX ticker: CCC).

Corbetta, 38, is actively involved in the ongoing standardization process for AMP equipment. He is responsible for the development of advanced maritime power supply solutions at Cavotec, and has been involved in major projects on high voltage shore-to-ship electrical supply systems.

Cavotec MSL is a global leader in innovative and environmentally friendly power and engineering solutions, supplying a wide range of markets throughout the world.
