Cavotec in AMP deal with Cypriot Ship Owner Synergy

Cavotec in AMP deal with Cypriot Ship Owner Synergy

Cavotec MSL has received an order for four Alternative Maritime Power (AMP) systems from Cypriot ship owner Synergy Marine Ltd. The units will be installed on vessels currently being built in South Korea.

Delivery is due to be completed this year. The vessels will be chartered to Taiwanese shipping line Yang Ming.

"Cavotec has always striven to reduce industry impact on the environment and AMP typifies this approach," says Luciano Corbetta, Cavotec Marine Division Manager.

Also know as "cold ironing", AMP involves ships turning off their engines when in port and plugging into shore-side electricity supply, enhancing air quality in ports and surrounding areas.

Cavotec MSL is a global leader in innovative and environmentally friendly engineering solutions, supplying fully integrated systems to the maritime, mining, airport, and general industry sectors throughout the world.
